Adil Rashid Bio

Adil Usman Rashid MBE is a cricketer from England who was born on February 17, 1988. He currently competes for England in One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket, and he has also played for the Test squad in the past. He is a member of the Yorkshire team in domestic cricket and has participated in several Twenty20 competitions. In the 2023 Indian Premier League auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased him for a sum of two crores of rupees.

There is a consensus among experts that he is among the greatest English spinners of all time. In 2009, Rashid made his debut in both one-day internationals and Twenty20 internationals. Between the years 2015 and 2019, he was a member of the Test squad. He was a member of the England team that successfully won the Cricket World Cup in 2019 as well as the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022. A right-arm leg break bowler, Rashid is a member of the team. He is England’s best wicket-taker among spin bowlers in both one-day internationals and Twenty20 Internationals, and with Chris Jordan, he is England’s second-most wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals overall.

It is 177 against New Zealand in 2015 that he holds the world record for the greatest seventh-wicket partnership in one-day internationals, which he shares with Jos Buttler. The birthday honors list for King Charles III in 2023 included Rashid’s name as an MBE. As a substitute for the injured foreign batsman Darren Lehmann, Rashid made his debut in county cricket matches against Warwickshire at North Marine Road in Scarborough. During the second innings, he bowled a fantastic six wickets and 67 runs, which allowed him to tear through the middle order of Warwickshire and enable Yorkshire to win the match.

After that, Rashid signed up to be a part of the England Under-19s Test team for their series against the India Under-19s. Throughout the first test match, which took place at Canterbury, he made his debut for the team and scored 13 and 23 runs while also taking one wicket. During the second test match, which took place at Taunton, he had an outstanding all-round performance, as he scored 114 and 48 and claimed 8/157 and 2/45. Additionally, he participated in the third test match, which took place at the Denis Compton Oval in Shenley. However, he did not leave a significant impact, as he only took three wickets and scored 15 and 12 runs.

Beginning in the middle of August and continuing until the conclusion of the season, he maintained a consistent position in the Yorkshire side. He continued to impress, taking four wickets and 96 runs against Middlesex at Scarborough. He also scored 63, his first first-class half-century, against Nottinghamshire at Headingley. He was part of a fourth-wicket stand of 130 with Craig White, which helped Yorkshire dig themselves out of a hole from 42/3. He then assisted in bowling out Nottinghamshire’s tail, which ultimately led to Yorkshire winning the match.

Additionally, Rashid participated in a “spin match” that lasted for two days and was organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board. This was a program that aimed to assist in the development of young spin bowlers by simulating various match-based circumstances. At the beginning of the English summer, Rashid was at Lord’s, where he played for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Sussex, the county that won the championship in 2006.

A few days later, in his last County Championship match of the season, which took place at The Oval against Surrey, he scored 86 runs in the first innings, and he and Jacques Rudolph finished with a partnership of 190 runs for the sixth wicket. This resulted in the establishment of a new partnership record for the sixth wicket for Yorkshire versus Surrey, surpassing a previous record that had been in place since the nineteenth century. The month of April came to a close, and he continued to impress with bowling statistics of 5/88 against Durham at Headingley.

The England Lions selected him to participate in a tour match against India because of his recent performance. There was a possibility that Rashid may be selected to play for England’s Under-19 team once again in their series against Pakistan; however, his Yorkshire coach Martyn Moxon expressed surprise and unhappiness at the prospect of Rashid being removed from his county cricket duties. Because Rashid had already advanced to the next level of cricket, having played for England Lions, the selectors concluded that he should not be removed from his county cricket team to participate in the England Under-19s.

As he continued to play county cricket, he played Worcestershire at Kidderminster and scored his first first-class century, which was 108. He then scored another half-century against Warwickshire. All first-class matches that Rashid participated in during the 2007 English cricket season resulted in him scoring 837 runs with a batting average of 44.05 and taking 43 wickets with a bowling average of 42.16. In addition to scoring the fourth-most runs, he was the player from Yorkshire who led the team in wickets taken.

His outstanding performance in 2007 earned him several prizes. Both the Young Cricketer of the Year Award for 2006 and the Young Player of the Year Award for 2006 were most recently bestowed to him in June 2007. Rashid was honored with the title of Young Cricketer of the Year by the Cricket Writers’ Club on September 9th, and on September 24th, he was also given the title of Young Player of the Year by the Public Cricket Association.
